Joe Gilbreath
Joe Gilbreath is an Attorney whose principal office is located in San Antonio, Texas. He is married, and father to three children. Born into a farm family from Muleshoe, Texas, Joe spent most of his childhood in and near Lubbock, Texas, where he graduated from Monterrey High School and Texas Tech University (class of '73). He studied law at the University of Texas, School of Law graduating in 1976.
During law school Gilbreath began clerking for a former Texas Supreme Court Justice in a small boutique law firm in Austin that focused on
family law, real estate, eminent domain, and litigation. He became an associate in the successor to that firm. In mid-1978 Joe Gilbreath was recruited to become an Assistant General Counsel to a Massachusetts concern. In 1981 became General Counsel to a Texas Corporation, where he served until 1996. He relocated his General Counsel's office to San Antonio in 1990. As staff counsel his work focused on labor and employment matters, administrative law, alternate dispute resolution, and litigation. As General Counsel those topics were expanded and included responsibilities for areas such as corporate law, regulatory law, real estate acquisitions, insurance issues, legislation, and tax matters.
As general council was responsible for prepaid legal plans providing services
for beneficiaries including practice areas such as family law, administrative
law, civil rights law, criminal law and procedure. At both in-house positions, Gilbreath had ever increasing responsibilities in management and financial arenas, including management of a network with as many as ten staff attorneys (plus support staff) and over twenty-five local private counsel. He negotiated transactions up to and in excess of 75 million dollars. In 1996 and 1997, Joe Gilbreath made a venture into business. In 1998 and 1999 he served as an Administrative Law judge and in 1999 began his current practice.
Joe Gilbreath is licensed to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States, the Fifth Circuit Court of appeals, all United States District Courts, and in Texas by the Supreme Court of Texas. He is a member of the American Bar Association, The State Bar of Texas, the Bexar County Bar Association, The Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas,
the Christian Legal Society and the College of the State Bar of Texas.
Each year the firm has expanded steadily in terms of staff, resources, and clientele. Representative business and real estate clients include nation lender, prominent mortgage companies, construction firms, a building materials concern, and real estate investors. Employment law clients include small business clients, Federal, State, and Local government employees, victims of discrimination, wrongful
discharge victims, and whistleblowers. In 2003 the firm was incorporated.
